Ignoring R12.2 Readiness Checker Warnings on XXEN Tables

Avatar photoCustomer August 26, 2022 at 9:07 pm

When running the R12.2 readiness upgrade checker (`ADZDDBCC.sql`), several XXEN tables are listed in SECTION-20 with the message: ‘Table must have an editioning view.’ Should we create these views?

No, this message should be ignored. The Blitz Report tables are intentionally designed *not* to have editioning views, as the upgrade process is designed to run on live systems without patch cycle creation and cutover downtime.

Will this absence of editioning views cause issues with online patching?

The error message is just a warning that these custom tables may not be patched using online patching. This design is fully supported by Oracle for custom code that fulfills ‘minimal’ compliance (note 1577661.1), meaning no action is required on your part to correct this specific warning for XXEN objects.

What about related warnings in SECTION-26 or SECTION-37?

Any additional warnings related to XXEN objects in other sections, such as SECTION-26 and SECTION-37, should also be ignored, as they reflect the intended non-online-patching design.
