Filtering and Consolidating Discoverer Report Imports

Avatar photoCustomer December 2, 2024 at 2:35 am

We have identified thousands of old Discoverer worksheets, but we only want to migrate those that have been actively executed in the last year. How can I use the Blitz Report import process to filter based on execution history?

The Discoverer import features rely on the History Days parameter to filter reports based on recent execution . This information is derived from the `EUL5_QPP_STATS` table, which stores worksheet query execution statistics upon exiting Discoverer . When using the ‘Discoverer Worksheet’ import option, the LOV defaults to showing worksheets run within the specified number of History Days . For API-based mass migration, such as using `XXEN_API.IMPORT_DISCOVERER_WORKSHEET`, you should adjust the example script’s logic to filter by your desired timeframe (365 days) .

What is the key difference between importing by ‘Discoverer Worksheet’ versus ‘Discoverer Folders’, and when is the folder approach recommended?

The ‘Discoverer Worksheet’ option imports individual worksheets, resulting in a one-to-one conversion to Blitz Reports , . The ‘Discoverer Folders’ import option is recommended when you need consolidation . It imports only distinct folder or view object combinations . If multiple worksheets rely on the same underlying folders, they are consolidated into a single Blitz Report with multiple templates, significantly reducing the maintenance overhead , .

If I use the folder import option and multiple worksheets use the same folder combination, how does the system represent the original worksheets in Blitz Report?

When consolidating via ‘Discoverer Folders’, the different workbooks and their respective selected columns are converted into Blitz Report templates associated with the consolidated report . If a folder combination was used by just one worksheet, the imported Blitz Report name will be ‘Workbook Name: Sheet Name’ to aid recognition .

After importing the worksheets, I see that the parameters defined in Discoverer were also converted. How did Blitz Report derive the parameter types and LOVs?

    • Support December 9, 2024 at 8:18 pm

During the Discoverer worksheet import, Blitz Report automatically derives the parameter types by examining the Discoverer EUL items . It then automatically creates List of Values (LOVs) for the specific item classes utilized by those workbook parameters .
