Excel Date Bug: 1900 Leap Year Inaccuracy

Avatar photoCustomer May 1, 2024 at 1:31 pm

When extracting data that includes dates between January 1, 1900, and February 28, 1900, the Excel output file adds one day to these dates, showing them incorrectly. Is Blitz Report performing an incorrect date calculation?

This is not an issue with Blitz Report but a known bug in Microsoft Excel. Excel incorrectly treats 1900 as a leap year, which causes dates within that specific range to be offset by one day. This is detailed in Microsoft’s own documentation.

So there is no application-side fix, as the bug is client-side in Excel?

That is correct. This inaccuracy is an inherent limitation within Excel’s date handling.
