EBS Financial analysis with Pivot tables

Avatar photoCustomer September 7, 2019 at 6:11 am

Our end-goal for any General Ledger (GL) or sub-ledger report is to analyze the data immediately using Excel pivot tables. Traditional EBS exports often require cleaning columns before pivot tables can be generated. How does Blitz Report guarantee ‘ready-to-pivot’ data for financial analysis?

Blitz Report fundamentally accelerates financial analysis by outputting the data as a clean, native Excel file. The process of generating perfectly formatted Excel reports is integrated , meaning the data, including date fields and currency figures, is formatted correctly for instant consumption by Excel’s pivot table features. The data extraction process itself won’t ‘break the bank’.

If we extract a GL Balance report that includes a complex segment hierarchy, is that hierarchy data structured in a way that is easily consumable by the pivot table structure?

When dealing with hierarchies, Blitz Report aids by allowing you to define the required aggregation level upfront, for instance, utilizing the Parent Total (PT) option in the report parameters. The resulting flat file for the pivot table will contain the necessary descriptive segments and data elements, making it simpler to roll up or drill down within the pivot table itself.

Since volume is a concern for detailed GL data, are there safeguards against data limits when preparing data for pivot tables?

Yes, our tool guarantees no volume limitations on the output. This capability is crucial for financial analysis with pivot tables, ensuring you can pull millions of transactional details without hitting the obsolete 65,536 row constraint faced by older Oracle tools.

Can we configure the report to automatically apply initial filters when the Excel file opens, saving the analyst time?

    • Support September 15, 2019 at 8:56 am

The Excel output file is automatically opened with necessary filters applied. This saves the EBS user time and ensures immediate, actionable analysis upon extraction.

We need to ensure that the SQL logic used for complex financial analysis is centrally managed and auditable.

All report SQL scripts are centrally housed with full version control. This is essential for maintaining data governance over financial report definitions.
