Configuring Oracle EBS Integrated SOA Gateway (ISG) REST services in 12.2

We need to expose EBS functionalities as REST services for external applications using the Oracle EBS Integrated SOA Gateway (ISG) in our 12.2 environment. Is the ISG component typically installed, or does it require a separate installation?

The Integrated SOA Gateway component is already included in your Oracle E-Business Suite installation. However, it absolutely requires specific configuration steps to be enabled and fully functional, particularly for exposing REST services.

What is the primary role of the Integrated SOA Gateway in terms of integration within the Oracle EBS ecosystem?

ISG provides a crucial interface for facilitating communication between your custom external applications and Oracle EBS. Properly configuring the REST services allows for modern, standardized data exchange and system interactions.

Since we are enabling external communication, what steps must we take to ensure this connection is secure, particularly regarding TLS/HTTPS?

Security is mandatory. You must follow the detailed instructions for configuring TLS/HTTPS for Oracle EBS Integrated SOA Gateway (ISG) in 12.2. Configuring HTTPS ensures encrypted communication, protecting your EBS instance from attacks through unsecured HTTP channels.

While ISG handles system-to-system integration, we also need tools for ad-hoc, human-readable data extraction, preferably without relying on the custom applications. Can Blitz Report serve this function alongside ISG?

Yes, they serve different, complementary purposes. While ISG handles machine-to-machine data exchange, Blitz Report allows developers and business users to quickly define and run SQL queries for ad-hoc, high-volume data extraction directly from EBS to Excel. It provides rapid visibility into the data sets that might be feeding or being updated by your ISG integrations.
