Blitz Report Access Upload sets the Blitz Report Access level for other users or responsibilities from Excel – the access that controls whether someone can run, administer, develop or fully administer Blitz Reports – capped so you can never grant a level higher than your own.

When to use it

  • Grant a colleague the ability to run Blitz Reports (assign User).
  • Let someone manage other users’ Blitz Report access without development rights (assign User Admin).
  • Give a power user the ability to create and edit reports and uploads (assign Developer).
  • Grant full Blitz Report administration (System) – only if you yourself have System access.
  • Set Blitz Report access at responsibility level so everyone using that responsibility inherits the level.
  • Change or downgrade an existing person’s or responsibility’s access level in bulk.

Before you start

  • Blitz Report is installed and the Blitz Report Access Upload is available to you.
  • You already hold a Blitz Report Access level yourself – you can only grant levels up to your own.
  • The target users and responsibilities exist and are active (this upload assigns access to them, it does not create them).

DeveloperCreate and edit reports and uploads.
SystemFull Blitz Report administration.

Step 1 – Set the parameters and download

In Blitz Report, open Blitz Report Access Upload. Optionally set the Level (User or Responsibility) and Value filters to download existing access assignments for review, or leave them blank for an empty template. Run the upload to download and open the Excel file.

Step 2 – Enter the access assignments

On each row choose the Level (User or Responsibility), the Value (the user name or responsibility name receiving the access), and the Access level to assign. The Access dropdown only offers levels up to your own.

Step 3 – Validate and Save

Click Validate and Save. This checks for missing required values and runs the upload’s validation, then saves the file. Correct anything it flags before continuing.

Step 4 – Upload and view the result

Back in Blitz Report, click Upload and select your saved file. This submits the Blitz Upload request, which sets the access level for each user or responsibility. When it finishes, a result report opens showing each row as success or error.

What’s produced

  • The Blitz Report Access level set for each named user or responsibility.
  • A result report listing every row with a status (success or error) and a message.

Common questions

What exactly does “Access” control?
It sets the Blitz Report Access level, which determines what a user can do in Blitz Report – from just running reports (User), through administering other users (User Admin) and developing reports (Developer), up to full administration (System).

Can I grant someone a higher level than I have?
No. The Access dropdown only offers levels up to your own, and the upload re-checks this on the server. A row asking for a higher level than yours is rejected and nothing is changed.

Can I set access at Site level for everyone at once?
Not through this upload. It only sets User and Responsibility level values. Site/Application level changes are done through the standard profile screens.

Can I remove someone’s access with this upload?
No. There is no delete option; the upload only sets/overwrites a value. To remove access entirely, clear the profile value through standard EBS profile administration.

How do I assign access to a whole group of users at once?
Set the Level to Responsibility and choose the responsibility – everyone using it then inherits the access level.
