INV Physical Inventory Tag Count Upload enters counted quantities against the tags of an Oracle Inventory physical inventory from Excel. It downloads the tags of a physical inventory, lets you record the count on each tag, add new tags for stock that was found without a tag, and, on releases that support it, void tags. It records counts only; approving and posting the physical inventory adjustments is done afterwards in Oracle Inventory.
When to use it
- Enter physical count results in bulk from count sheets or scanner exports instead of keying each tag in the Physical Inventory Tag Counts window.
- Correct counted quantities on many tags at once before the adjustments are approved.
- Add tags for items or locations that were found during the count but not pre-tagged.
- Record counts in two units of measure, or counts for revision, lot and serial controlled items.
- Void tags that were not used (on releases that support voiding).
Before you start
- You use an Inventory responsibility with access to the organization.
- The physical inventory exists, its snapshot has been taken and tags have been generated. Its adjustments are not yet posted.
- To add new tags, the physical inventory allows dynamic tag entry.
- The Counted By employee is linked to an application user.
Step 1 – Set the parameters
Open INV Physical Inventory Tag Count Upload in Blitz Report and set the parameters:

Step 2 – Run to download the Excel file
Click Run. The Excel file downloads and opens with one row per tag, showing the item, subinventory, locator, lot and serial number of the tag, any quantity already counted, the employee who last counted it and the system quantity from the snapshot.
Step 3 – Enter or change the counts
On each downloaded tag enter the counted Quantity and check the UOM, which defaults to the item’s primary unit of measure. For items with a secondary unit of measure also enter the Secondary UOM and Secondary Quantity. On an existing tag only the count, the units of measure and the void flag can change; the Tag Number, Item, Revision, Subinventory, Locator, Lot Number and Serial Number identify the tag. To void a tag, set Void to Yes; a void tag needs no quantity.
To add a tag (Upload Mode Create or Create, Update), add a row with the Item, Subinventory, and where needed the Revision, Locator, Lot Number and Serial Number, plus the UOM and Quantity. Leave the Tag Number blank: the next tag number of the physical inventory is assigned when the tag is created.
Step 4 – Validate and Save
Click Validate and Save. This checks for missing required values and saves the file. Correct any rows it flags before uploading.
Step 5 – Upload the file
In Blitz Report click Upload and select the saved file. This submits the upload request, which records the counts against the tags and creates the new tags.
Step 6 – Review the result report
When the request completes, a result report opens listing every uploaded row with its status and message, the recorded count and the Last Counted By employee. New tags appear with their assigned tag number, so the report can be used as the basis for further count corrections.

Common questions
Does this post the inventory adjustments?
No. It only records counts and tags. Approve and post the physical inventory adjustments in Oracle Inventory after counting.
How do I create a new tag?
Choose Upload Mode Create or Create, Update, add a row with the item, subinventory and any locator, revision, lot and serial number, and leave the Tag Number blank. The physical inventory must allow dynamic tag entry, and its tags must have been generated so that a next tag number exists.
Can I change which item or location an existing tag points to?
No. On an existing tag only the count, the units of measure and the void flag can change. Void the tag and add a new one instead.
Who is recorded as having counted the tag?
The employee in the Counted By parameter, which defaults to your own employee. The previous counter is shown in the Last Counted By column.
Why are no tags downloaded for my physical inventory?
Tags are only downloaded while the physical inventory’s adjustments are not posted, and tags whose adjustments have already been processed are left out. Also check the subinventory, item, locator and tag number filters.
Why is a serial controlled item missing from the download?
Physical inventories that allow multiple serial numbers per tag are not supported for serial controlled items; count those tags in Oracle Inventory.
Why can’t I set Void to Yes?
Voiding and unvoiding tags needs the physical inventory public API, which is available from R12.2.3, and is possible on existing tags only. On earlier releases the Void list is empty.
