OS Upgrade Check: Ensuring EBS 12.2 Forms and Concurrent Output Work After Moving to Oracle Linux 8

We are planning an in-place upgrade of our EBS 12.2 server from Oracle Linux 7 to Oracle Linux 8 using the Leapp utility, aiming to avoid a full server clone. Which critical EBS patches must be applied before the OS upgrade to ensure compatibility, especially regarding Forms and Concurrent Request functionality? We are specifically worried about encountering the common issue of a blank page being displayed when viewing concurrent requests log or output files after the migration is complete.

The in-place OS upgrade via Leapp is certified for EBS 12.2, simplifying the process. However, to prevent the known issue of blank pages for concurrent request output, you must apply FMW Patch 32931976 to the source 12.2 environment prior to the OS upgrade.

After the Oracle Linux 8 upgrade is successful and the system reboots, what critical post-upgrade step is required for EBS application stability and functionality, beyond simply starting services?

The crucial mandatory step is running the adadmin relink process. You must access the AD Administration Main Menu and select ‘Relink Applications programs’ with the ‘all’ option. This ensures that all executables are correctly linked against the new Oracle Linux 8 system libraries.

Additionally, check for and create the necessary symbolic link if `/usr/lib/libXm.so.2` does not exist, as this is often missing and required for forms functionality.

We noticed that some EBS products are desupported on OEL8. How do we ensure we deactivate these correctly post-upgrade?

You must download and run the script provided under Patch 35090694. This runs a cleanup script to deactivate products unsupported on Oracle Linux 8, which is a mandatory step that must be repeated after applying any major EBS Release Update Packs.
