Concurrent Manager Tuning: Creating a Dedicated Manager for High-Performance Blitz Report Requests

Avatar photoCustomer October 24, 2025 at 5:54 pm

To ensure lightning-fast access to our critical operational data, we want to set up a dedicated concurrent manager exclusively for processing Blitz Report and Blitz Upload concurrent requests. This is part of our strategy to improve Blitz Report performance by isolating the reporting workload. Could you outline the key steps required within System Administrator responsibility to create this Custom Concurrent Manager, including specialization rules and recommended settings for optimal speed?

Creating a dedicated concurrent manager is an excellent tuning strategy for improving Blitz Report performance. First, navigate to System Administrator > Concurrent > Manager > Define. Create a new manager, assigning it a name like ‘Blitz Report Manager’ and linking it to the Application Name ‘Enginatics Custom Application,’ using ‘FNDLIBR’ as the Program Library Name.

What are the critical settings within ‘Work Shifts’ to ensure rapid response times for the concurrent requests?

In the ‘Work Shifts’ setup, while the number of concurrent manager processes depends on expected workload, we strongly advise keeping the ‘sleep seconds’ parameter low, ideally around 5 seconds, to minimize latency and boost Blitz Report performance.

And how do we ensure only Blitz Reports run on this new manager, preventing standard requests from being picked up?

You must define Specialization Rules for both the new manager and the existing Standard Manager. Add an include rule specifically for the Blitz Report program on the new manager, and crucially, add a corresponding exclude rule for Blitz Report concurrent program within the Standard Manager definition.

After configuring the manager and rules, how do we activate it and verify functionality?

Activate the new manager under System Administrator > Concurrent > Manager > Administer. You can verify the setup by running a test Blitz Report and confirming via the Administer screen that the request is indeed processed by your dedicated ‘Blitz Manager’.
