EBS SQL to Excel reporting with Blitz Report for non-developers – Autonomy

Avatar photoCustomer February 4, 2023 at 2:57 am

Our non-developer business users are capable of interpreting data but constantly rely on IT to make minor adjustments to report output, leading to significant IT backlog. How does Blitz Report empower these end-users to modify their report outputs without creating new SQL or requiring developer involvement?

Blitz Report is specifically designed to minimize reliance on IT for simple output changes. While non-developers cannot change the core SQL , they gain autonomy through the flexible column templates. Users can customize any report by removing or reordering columns so they only receive the data they need.

Is this customization feature what you refer to as the ‘folder style template functionality’?

    • Support February 8, 2023 at 9:21 am

Yes. This functionality allows users to modify the report layout using a familiar interface structure. They can add, reposition, or remove report columns with just a few mouse clicks. This capability is instrumental in reducing the overall IT dependency for operational reporting.

Since this is integrated within EBS, how complex is the user experience for making these layout changes?

    • Support February 11, 2023 at 1:06 am

The user experience is simplified because we adopt the EBS user interface. Users navigate a familiar environment, minimizing the training required , and allowing them to create and share their own customized report layout templates.

If an authorized non-developer customizes a report layout and then runs it, does the output still retain the benefits of speed and Excel formatting?

    • Support February 13, 2023 at 1:15 am

Absolutely. The customization only affects the presentation layer, not the underlying query execution. The report continues to run with incredibly fast performance due to reduced processing overhead , delivering the required, filtered data as a perfectly formatted native Excel file.

What about scheduling these customized reports? Do they still use the Concurrent Manager?

    • Support February 15, 2023 at 7:13 am

Yes, they leverage all standard EBS functionality. Users can schedule the customized requests in the normal way through the Concurrent Manager , utilizing enhanced delivery options for automated distribution.
