Compatibility Fix: Ensuring EBS Reports Avoid ‘Corrupt File’ Errors in Excel 365 using XLSX Format

We are upgrading our desktop environment to Microsoft Office 365, and immediately began encountering problems with legacy EBS reports . Specifically, reports generated by older technology, like BI Publisher using XLS formats, are frequently flagged by new Excel 365 security protocols as ‘Corrupt File’ or blocked entirely. Oracle officially confirmed that generating XLSX output isn’t straightforward in EBS 12.1.3, limiting us to the problematic XLS format . How can we reliably generate output in the modern XLSX format to overcome these compatibility and security warnings?

You are correct; standard EBS implementations, particularly 12.1.3 and older, generally output in the legacy XLS format, which poses security and row limit challenges . The robust solution is adopting Blitz Report, which consistently generates output files directly in the modern XLSX format, addressing compatibility concerns with Excel 365 .

By leveraging Blitz Report for your EBS reporting needs, you automatically utilize the superior XLSX format, thus preventing the ‘Corrupt File’ warnings triggered by restrictive modern security policies .

Does this also resolve the hard row limit of 65,536 lines that comes with using the older XLS format, which is a massive restriction for our large operational extracts?

Yes, Blitz Report resolves both issues simultaneously. It eliminates the 65,536 row limit entirely. In fact, if your data exceeds the limit of a single XLSX sheet (1,048,575 rows), the output transparently overflows into additional worksheets within the same file .

This ensures that your finance and operations teams can rely on stable, secure, and correctly formatted large-volume reports for their daily use and reconciliation tasks.
