Bridging the Gap: Integrating EBS Lookups and LOVs into Custom Blitz Report SQL Parameters

Avatar photoCustomer October 14, 2025 at 3:17 pm

During our shift to modern reporting tools, we’ve found that while custom SQL provides flexible data access, it lacks the intuitive user experience provided by Discoverer’s rich parameter entry screens . Our end users depend heavily on List of Values (LOVs) for selecting operating units, GL dates, or specific items, and relying on raw SQL input fields is causing frequent errors and dissatisfaction. How can we ensure that new custom SQL to Excel reporting tools respect and incorporate existing EBS value sets and LOV logic effectively?

This transition issue highlights the need to maintain familiarity. Blitz Report is built upon the core EBS application foundation functions, including concurrent requests and value sets, ensuring full compatibility with existing parameter and LOV logic .

When creating or modifying reports in Blitz Report, developers can quickly select and re-use parameters from existing Oracle reports, instantly inheriting the established EBS LOVs for fields like Organization Code or Period .

That’s helpful for standard parameters. If we import an old Discoverer worksheet, does the automated migration preserve these LOVs, even for complex date ranges?

Yes, the automated Discoverer report import feature within Blitz Report specifically transfers worksheet SQLs, including the definitions for parameters and LOVs, ensuring that users retain that familiar selection capability post-migration .

This seamless integration drastically improves user adoption and eliminates data entry errors commonly associated with manual parameter input in ad-hoc scripting interfaces.
