Blitz Report™ Toolkits

Smart project implementation and upgrade toolkits for Oracle E-Business Suite

The Blitz Report Toolkits are aimed at consulting and analytical teams with the common aim of expediting project and support tasks; they allow users to manage critical processes and export data from any EBS functional area using familiar commands and concurrent request functionality. In addition to our library of proven reports, users can create their own ad-hoc reports in minutes, and Blitz Report will deliver the correct data type and column size in Excel output without any data limitations.

Blitz Report™ delivers 5 toolkits of valuable reports, including:

  • Database Health and Tuning. This analytical suite of reports draws from data collected by the Automatic Workload Repository (AWR) and Foundation (FND) reports and delivers easy to read Excel formatted analysis in seconds.

  • Support, Upgrades and Data Migration. This comprehensive suite of reports provides automated BR100 extracts for setup and migration of data. It also provides Excel based alerts for critical processes such as integrations and concurrent requests, delivering results quickly and efficiently.

  • Operational. This functional suite of reports covers the core processes like Record to Report, Order to Cash, Supply Chain Management and Purchase to Pay.  It also includes utilities to import both BI Publisher and Discoverer reports for faster reporting without data volume restrictions.
  • Data Management. This suite of reports allows data monitoring in EBS with formatted, ready to use Excel worksheets. The toolkit uses background concurrent requests on a time schedule to monitor critical data, delivering email alerts whenever exceptions take place. Examples include: master data and setup change auditing together with data extracts to the latest Enterprise Command Centers.

  • Cost Accounting This suite of cost management reports provides visibility and reporting for global accounting period status, material accounting, receiving accounting, WIP accounting, profit in inventory, and month-end inventory valuation and reconciliation.

Database Health and Tuning

The standard Automatic Workload Repository (AWR) reports are difficult to read and challenging to interpret. Blitz Report provides an alternative suite of reports using the AWR data combined with additional EBS information to simplify the analysis. For example, when analyzing under performing SQL’s the report includes the name of the package and the code line creating the issue. This makes it much easier for a DBA or developer to identify, locate and correct the issue.

This toolkit includes reports that will:

  • Wait events to identify problems
  • Time model statistics indicating the amount of DB time associated with a process from the time model views
  • Active Session History (ASH) statistics from the active session views
  • Some system and session statistics from the statistical views
  • Object usage statistics
  • Resource intensive SQL statements

Support, Upgrade and Data Migration

Supporting business users and related processes can be a challenge at the best of times. Consulting teams with a mixture of functional and technical skills can benefit from having a ready made support or upgrade toolkit to take care of the project tasks such as BR100 extracts for setup and data migration, and alerts for critical processes such as integrations and concurrent requests.

Blitz Report is an easy to use add on for EBS which resides in Oracle forms meaning that there are no new commands to learn. There are no data limits for the output size which makes it very fast to export and migrate data. Whether you have 5 million records or just a few thousand, it will generate perfectly formatted Excel or CSV files.

Support consultants can create new or ad hoc reports quickly and efficiently with just a few clicks. Or users can paste existing proven SQL scripts directly into Blitz Report and start sharing with the rest of the teams, and with full version control. Reports, are provided to track any setup or master data changes but without the complexity of implementing or licencing the GRC data governance and compliance module. For example: if someone has made changes to a billing address, bank account details or it can detect any setup changes with a setup of less than 5 minutes per object to be tracked.

For security requirements, the central admin teams can control what tables Blitz Report is able to access through Oracle Virtual Private Database (VPD) security policies, making it a simple and viable tool for keeping your data private and secure.

Operational

All reports run from EBS forms which means there are minimal training requirements. Once a new report had been delivered to the business user, they have the capability to hide, display and re-order columns in a similar method as form folders, thereby reducing dependency on IT personnel for minor changes.

There is an extensive portfolio of operational reports provided with Blitz Report including: Record to Report,Purchase to Pay, Supply Chain and Order to Cash.  There are also reports to handle data governance, e.g. who changed what when together with the capability to build fast metrics such as the DIFOT (delivered in full and on time)

New reports can be quickly developed by IT teams using the import or export functions. For example, developers can re-use BI Publisher, Concurrent or Discoverer reports as a baseline to build from by importing and adding the additional requirements.

Our users have found that the development cycle is typically one tenth of the typical EBS report development path, since there are no new concurrent programs to register, whilst parameters can be selected from a list and re-used between reports. Version control is all available within Blitz Report and new reports can be automatically exported and imported from one platform to another thereby simplifying the development cycle progress from UAT to production delivery.

The default method for export of data is a fully formatted Excel sheet delivered by the concurrent request mechanism, except there are no record size limitations as per BI Publisher reports, nor does it suffer the same performance limitations.

Data Management

Typically, Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) implementations have many security, auditing and compliance related requirements. For example: if someone has changed a billing address, bank account, or a system profile. More recently with the introduction of the Enterprise Command Centers (ECC) it becomes important to manage data out of EBS to ensure that the dashboards are up to date and users are working with the correct data sets.

For customers not wishing to implement or licence the Governance Risk & Compliance module, monitoring master data can be a significant challenge. This toolkit allows audit on any master data element and critical data sets to ECC. Our audit reports are based on the standard Audit functionality defined in sysadmin and the reports identify changes on any columns that you need to track. Reports allow the selection of related tables too, for example: if you need to track an important attribute on the Item Master such as “Cost of Goods Sold Account” and  also wish to report on the items organization code.

The ECC reporting suite allow you to manage the data sets from each module that populate the Command Center dashboards, and hence allow you to readily monitor this data, ensuring that the data is sent on time and without error, thereby keeping the business community informed.

Cost Accounting

Doug Volz is the global leader in cost management solutions for Oracle EBS and cloud applications. He has adopted Blitz Report™ as the recommended reporting tool for his clients and included several of his specialized reports in the Enginatics report library. For over twenty years, Doug has offered these reports to the Oracle community as SQL’s. Now, these reports are pre-configured for Blitz Report™ enabling Finance and Cost Accountants to use immediately without the IT development overhead.

The report toolkit addresses common inventory & manufacturing reconciliation challenges:

  • Inventory reconciliation (Onhand, Intransit, Receiving, WIP)
  • Profit in inventory tracking and elimination
  • Stuck transactions
  • Period control for multiple inventory organizations
  • Better multi-organization inventory value, transaction variance, and item cost reports
  • Subledger accounting reconciliation

Example reports supplied with Blitz Report

The full library is available here

Examples

  • FND (application foundation) extracts, including values sets, account hierarchies, profiles, menus and key flexfields for setup tracking
  • Master data extracts for chart of accounts, ledgers, items, suppliers and customers

  • Track patches that have been applied by adpatch
  • Workflow monitoring and status alerts

These are just a few examples of our available reports, new reports can be created within minutes. Or you can import BI Publisher or Discoverer reports complete with their assignments and parameters, speeding up the development process without administration overheads. Reports can be migrated from each EBS instance that they are developed on, making the implementation process straight-forward without version challenges.
