Using the Category Dropdown for Report Filtering

We have hundreds of reports. Is there an efficient way for end-users to quickly narrow down the list based on a business function, like ‘General Ledger’?

      Yes, if you have a large number of reports, category assignments help users find the reports they require. Users can pick a Category from the dropdown list on the run window.

      To create or manage categories, you navigate to the menu Tools > Categories from the Blitz Report Setup window. You can also review existing assignments there.

      If we migrate reports to another environment, do the categories follow automatically?

      When exporting reports, you have the option to include Categories in the exported XML file. This allows you to create that category automatically in the destination environment upon import.

      Yes, during import, reports are assigned to categories automatically based on the originating concurrent program’s application module, which is defined by the lookup XXEN_REPORT_APPLICATIONS.
