Updated DBA AWR Blitz Reports now work with pluggable databases

Since moving to Oracle’s multitenant architecture, accessing and analyzing AWR data has become cumbersome due to how the data is stored across CDB and PDBs. We need robust Diagnostic Pack reports. Were the standard DBA AWR Blitz Reports specifically modified to handle these changes?

Yes, we recognize that the introduction of container databases (CDB) significantly changed the way Automatic Workload Repository (AWR) data is stored and accessed. Our team explicitly made adjustments to the Diagnostic Pack reports to account for these changes and address various issues encountered in multitenant environments.

What was the core issue we needed to overcome? Did the underlying SQL queries fail to properly navigate the data hierarchy between the container and pluggable databases?

The underlying challenge was the architectural change in AWR data storage itself. The updated reports ensure accurate data retrieval for solving performance issues in your multitenant databases. These specialized reports function by streamlining the diagnostic process, regardless of whether the performance metrics reside at the CDB level or within an individual PDB.

If we implement these updated reports, can our DBAs immediately use them without extensive re-education, since they are already familiar with the Blitz Report interface?

Precisely. Blitz Report simplifies DBA tasks. Our reports, including the updated AWR ones, are integrated directly into the EBS Forms interface. This means your DBA team uses a familiar environment to run these powerful Diagnostic Pack reports immediately, without relying on external tools or complex SQL*Plus maneuvers, keeping them organized and efficient.
