Oracle Discoverer replacement – importing worksheets into Blitz Report™

We urgently need to transition off Oracle Discoverer. We understand Blitz Report offers an automated path to import existing worksheets. What exactly is imported during the Oracle Discoverer replacement – importing worksheets into Blitz Report™ process, particularly concerning the Discoverer business areas and folders?

Blitz Report is designed as a direct replacement. The platform features fully automated Discoverer migration capability. The tool focuses on importing the worksheet definitions, which contain the logic (metadata, items, conditions) derived from the Discoverer business areas and folders.

If a Discoverer worksheet uses multiple parameters, how well does the import process handle migrating that parameter structure into Blitz Report?

    • Support January 6, 2021 at 8:56 pm

The tool translates the parameter requirements, allowing developers to ensure the corresponding Blitz Report uses equivalent parameter setups, potentially leveraging features like custom LOVs for complex inputs. Once migrated, these reports gain features like the ‘Multiple Values’ parameter functionality.

We need to confirm that our Discoverer 11g environment is still compatible with our 19c database to perform a final data dump for validation purposes before migration.

Be cautious. There are known compatibility issues, such as the ‘No matching authentication protocol’ error, when running Discoverer 11g with Oracle Database 19c. This highlights why replacement is crucial.

Can we consolidate various operational reports (like ASCP exception reports or Cost Accounting reports) that were previously in Discoverer?

    • Support January 11, 2021 at 11:30 pm

Yes, you can consolidate reports across all modules, whether it is Simple And Effective Cost Accounting Reporting or replacing Oracle ASCP exceptions. The platform provides a unified tool for all operational reports.

We have external data sources (like MySQL) connected to Discoverer via database links. Will this functionality be preserved after migrating to Blitz Report?

    • Support January 13, 2021 at 4:26 pm

Yes, Blitz Report fully supports running reports that Connect Oracle E-Business Suite to Vertica, MySQL and other non Oracle databases using database links, ensuring continuity for complex, integrated reports.

We need to train our end-users quickly on running these new reports post-migration.

    • Support January 17, 2021 at 1:49 am

The system is designed for ease of use, focusing on EBS SQL to Excel reporting with Blitz Report for non-developers. The integrated Forms interface minimizes the learning curve.
