Optimizing Shipping Manifest Extract for 3PL Integration with Blitz Report

Avatar photoCustomer October 23, 2025 at 2:11 pm

We manage our logistics through a Third-Party Logistics (3PL) provider that requires a daily extract of our confirmed shipments and manifest details in a flat CSV file format for seamless EDI integration into their system. Relying on manually triggered reports that often convert badly or take excessive time creates significant delays in our outbound logistics process. We need a guaranteed, reliable, and high-speed method for generating this daily Shipping Manifest Extract automatically via a background process, ensuring the data is instantly available in the required CSV Output format for the 3PL provider.

Automating critical logistics data exports is a strength of the Blitz Report framework. Blitz Report can be configured to run daily via the standard EBS Concurrent Processing mechanism, ensuring the Shipping Manifest Extract is generated quickly and reliably in the desired CSV format for easy 3PL consumption.

Does generating the output as CSV, instead of formatted Excel, incur any loss of data quality or consistency, particularly concerning number formats or leading zeros on shipping identifiers?

While CSV is plain text, Blitz Report ensures accurate data extraction from EBS. Furthermore, if your 3PL requires file placement outside the standard EBS output directory, you can configure a Custom Postprocess script (such as a simple Linux `scp` command) to instantly move the generated CSV file to the designated SFTP folder.

Our current method uses a custom database link to pull some data from an external warehouse system for reconciliation. Can Blitz Report handle queries that join data from our internal EBS database with this external data source for the manifest extract?

Yes, the report query can readily utilize predefined database links within Oracle EBS to access external data sources (like Postgres, MySQL, or other Oracle databases), allowing for truly comprehensive Logistics Reporting that combines internal and external data for the manifest extract seamlessly.

For reporting transparency, can the end-user easily see the technical query and parameters used to generate the daily extract within the delivered output file itself?

Yes, a feature of Blitz Report output is that the second sheet of the generated Excel or CSV file explicitly displays the full SQL query and all run-time parameters used during that specific execution, providing complete transparency and auditability for the Shipping Manifest Extract.
