My scheduled alert report didn’t send an email when it was empty

I scheduled an alert report designed to run daily. If it finds no exceptions (zero rows), no output file is delivered via email. Why is the email suppressed?

By default, if a scheduled Blitz Report retrieves zero rows, it does not send an empty output file. File delivery through Oracle standard’s delivery options is suppressed.

Since this is an alert report, I need confirmation that it ran, even if it was empty. How do I force the email delivery?

You must override the default behavior using the profile option ‘Blitz Report Suppress Empty File Delivery’. To ensure that empty files are also sent for scheduled reports, set this profile option value to ‘No’.

If I want to enforce this suppression behavior for a specific report that serves as a critical outbound interface, can I set it to ‘Protected’ type?

Yes, if you want to give your outbound interface report an additional level of protection and allow modifications only by users with the ‘System’ access profile, you can set its Type to ‘Protected’.

Where can I review the log file if an execution fails?

If an error occurs, you should review the report concurrent logfile. The logfile shows error messages, the executed SQL, user-entered parameter values, and corresponding bind variables.
