LOV Standardization and Maintenance Audit

Avatar photoCustomer June 22, 2021 at 2:39 am

We suspect multiple report parameters are using identical custom List of Values (LOV) queries instead of sharing a common LOV, leading to maintenance complexity. How can I audit this duplication?

You should use the Blitz Report Parameter Custom LOV Duplication Validation report. This report specifically identifies parameters using custom LOVs with the same query more than once, indicating they should be set up as a shared LOV instead.

Once identified, what is the best practice recommendation?

The recommendation is to consolidate these identical custom LOV queries and set them up as a shared LOV to simplify maintenance and ensure consistency.

If I encounter a syntax error in an LOV query, which validation report should I run first?

Run the Blitz Report LOV SQL Validation report. This validates LOV SQLs for valid syntax, which is crucial after mass migrations.

Where can I find a general listing of all defined LOVs in the system?

Use the Blitz Report LOVs report, which lists all Blitz Report List of Values.
