How to seamlessly integrate reports into EBS forms using Zoom

Avatar photoCustomer March 1, 2020 at 7:43 am

We need to allow users to quickly access specific analytical reports based on the context of the data they are viewing within an Oracle EBS Form, such as the Sales Order Organizer. How can we leverage EBS Zoom functionality to seamlessly integrate custom reports, and can Blitz Report facilitate this?

Blitz Report can indeed be seamlessly integrated into EBS forms using the Zoom functionality. This allows users to drill down from a specific record in an Oracle Forms screen directly to a detailed Blitz Report output, keeping the user experience within EBS.

What is the technical process for integrating a report using Zoom? Does it require complex registration procedures typical of standard Concurrent Programs?

The standard process for creating a new report within Blitz Report eliminates the hassle of registering new concurrent programs and reports with System Administration. For the Zoom integration specifically, you essentially connect the Blitz Report to the target form using standard EBS functionality, typically through personalization or custom development that calls the Blitz Report execution hook with the appropriate parameters derived from the form context.

We want our reports to analyze Order Management data. Can Blitz Report help optimize the standard export experience from forms like the Sales Order Organizer, which can be slow?

Yes, Blitz Report helps Optimize Order Management form exports. It bypasses the limitations of the standard form export functionality by providing its robust export engine, specifically useful for extracting detailed data like order headers and lines efficiently.

If we create a key metric report, like Delivery in Full On Time (DIFOT), how quickly can we implement and test that using Blitz Report’s features?

    • Support March 8, 2020 at 1:40 pm

You can quickly implement metrics like DIFOT by copying a seeded Blitz Report, modifying the query to reflect your promise and order date logic, and adjusting the user template to show only necessary columns. You can also assign the report to a specific user for testing right away, ensuring rapid iteration and validation.

What about change control? If a consultant modifies the underlying SQL for the DIFOT metric, how is that tracked?

    • Support March 10, 2020 at 7:46 am

Blitz Report enforces strict change control. Consultants can drop their custom SQL scripts directly into the tool, and the application maintains full version control with audit comments within your EBS instance, guaranteeing traceability for every modification.

We also sometimes need PDF output instead of Excel for certain statutory reports. Is that supported?

    • Support March 10, 2020 at 7:00 pm

Yes, while Blitz Report is primarily known for Excel output, it does support options to Generate PDF of Blitz Report™ output. This is achieved through a post-processing step on the report output, providing flexibility for different delivery requirements.
