I’m trying to find a report based on a column name, like ‘invoice_amount’, which isn’t in the report title. Will the search find it?

Yes, the full text search is designed to operate like a ‘Google-like search’. It retrieves reports by report name, description, or the underlying SQL. This means you can effectively search by column names accessed by a SQL query.

Does it also check the parameter names or just the main SQL?

The search scope is comprehensive; it includes the report name and description, parameters, SQL definition, and template name and description.

That’s helpful. If I search for ‘AP’, will it match ‘ap’ or ‘aP’ as well?

The search is not case sensitive. You can enter your search terms without worrying about capitalization.

Great, so if I type the first few characters of a report name, does it start the search immediately or do I need to press enter?

The list of available reports can be restricted further simply by typing the first characters of the desired report name into the report name field.
