Forms Security Warning: Mixed Signed/Unsigned Code

Avatar photoCustomer May 18, 2025 at 6:42 am

When users open Oracle Forms, they receive a Java security warning about ‘application components that could indicate a security concern’ and ‘mixed signed and unsigned code’. Is this related to the Blitz Report Excel icon?

Yes, the root cause is often the custom Blitz Report gif images used for the Forms assignment feature, which trigger the mixed-code warning (Doc ID 1120573.1).

What is the recommended long-term solution to eliminate this warning?

The best solution is to migrate to Java Web Start, as the warning typically appears when using the older Java Plug-in. Alternatively, you can include the custom Blitz Report images (like `xxen_report.gif`) directly within the `fndaol.jar` file by modifying `$FND_TOP/java/make/fndjar.dep` and regenerating product JAR files.

If we use the temporary JRE security workaround, which setting should be enabled?

For a quick desktop workaround, users can go to Control Panel > Java > Advanced > Security > Mixed code and select ‘Enable – hide warning and run with protections’.
