Find an IP address and geolocation of EBS clients’ logins

Avatar photoCustomer April 29, 2020 at 4:45 am

For auditing and security monitoring, we need the capability to track and report on the IP address and geographical location of EBS client logins. Is there an efficient way for our EBS DBAs or security analysts to retrieve this information?

Yes, Blitz Report facilitates finding the IP address and geolocation of EBS clients’ logins. This feature is part of the DBA toolkit, allowing operational and security teams to monitor user activity effectively within EBS R12 environments.

Once we have the IP address and location data extracted, how can we visualize this information easily? We prefer a dynamic visualization tool.

You can integrate this extracted data directly with visualization tools in Microsoft Excel. The resulting Blitz Report output can be used for EBS logins geolocation tracking with Blitz Report and Excel Bing Maps. This leverages Excel’s mapping capabilities for security monitoring.

What table or mechanism does the DBA typically use within the database to capture the client’s IP address upon login?

    • Support May 3, 2020 at 3:35 pm

The underlying SQL query in this specific Blitz Report leverages the standard EBS tables utilized by Oracle Applications DBAs to record session information and client connection details, including the client IP address. The Blitz Report simply organizes this raw technical data into an actionable report format.

How quickly can this type of custom security report be implemented and rolled out to the security team?

Since Blitz Report eliminates the need for registering Concurrent Programs, and the report structure is straightforward (SQL definition and parameter setup), implementation is fast. The tool supports rapid creation and sharing of SQL-based reports with role-based access.

We need to ensure these reports are run frequently for immediate threat analysis. Does Blitz Report minimize performance impact?

    • Support May 8, 2020 at 9:16 pm

Blitz Report is known for its reduced processing overhead and exceptional speed. By optimizing the execution of these diagnostic SQL queries, it allows frequent running of reports without unduly impacting overall EBS performance.

If we want to export the raw IP data along with related concurrent request monitoring details, can we join those data sets?

    • Support May 11, 2020 at 12:39 pm

You can correlate the login and session data with the detailed concurrent request monitoring reports, which track request execution status and parameters. By correlating session information (derived from FND tables) with concurrent processing details, you gain a powerful security and performance diagnostic tool.
