Exact Phrase Search in Blitz Report

Avatar photoCustomer September 19, 2025 at 5:35 pm

I need to find a report with the exact phrase ‘journal entry drilldown’ in its description. If I enter the words without quotes, I get too many results. How do I enforce an exact phrase match?

To search for an exact match where the keywords must appear in that specific order, you must enclose the phrase in quotation marks. So, you should search for `”journal entry drilldown”`.

If I search for ‘journal drilldown’ without quotes, what logic does the search use by default?

By default, when entering multiple keywords without logical operators like ‘or’, the search matches reports containing all keywords, but not necessarily in the exact order or directly adjacent to each other. If you wanted reports containing ‘journal’ OR ‘drilldown’, you would need to use `journal or drilldown`.

Understood. Where can I see which parts of the report definition matched my search query?

If you scroll further to the right in the search results, the system shows the matching score and explicitly lists the fields in which your keywords were found.

Is the functionality of searching by just typing characters into the field related to this full text search?

Yes, typing characters into the report name field restricts the list of available reports. This is the interface that executes the full text search when you enter complex terms.
