Data Governance: Tracking EBS Master Data Changes Proactively with Blitz Report Audit Trail

Avatar photoCustomer November 5, 2025 at 10:43 am

Our data governance team must track critical master data changes, such as unexpected modifications to item planning attributes, which often lead to planning errors. We are hesitant to enable the native EBS Audit functionality system-wide due to performance concerns, and the standard audit report is notoriously difficult to read, failing to include key context like item descriptions. How can Blitz Report be leveraged to provide a clear, readable Blitz Report audit trail while mitigating potential EBS reporting performance issues?

Implementing EBS Audit functionality on critical low-volume master data (like item attributes) typically has a negligible performance impact. Blitz Report solves the usability issue of the standard Oracle report, which often relies on ID numbers and lacks descriptive details, making its output unusable.

So how does Blitz Report transform the raw audit data into something operationally useful, especially if we are tracking item master attributes?

We offer generic reports like ‘FND Audit Table Changes by Column’ which you can clone and customize. This report automatically joins the audit data to contextual tables, transforming the output into a readable Excel report that includes descriptions and automatically applies filters and correct formatting. This provides instant, exceptional visibility into master data changes.

To be proactive, can we receive immediate alerts if an item attribute unexpectedly changes?

Yes, once the audit report is configured in Blitz Report, it can be scheduled as a Concurrent Request to send the Excel report output directly via email to your MDM and business teams, alerting them immediately when a critical data governance rule is broken.

For further monitoring, always take benchmark timings before enabling audit, and consider utilizing the Blitz Report DBA AWR tuning toolkit to monitor system performance metrics.
