Blitz Report Solves BI Publisher’s 65,536 Row Limit and Enables Seamless XLSX Output in EBS

We are consistently facing issues with high-volume data exports using BI Publisher-based reports in EBS 12.1.3, specifically hitting the hard 65,536 row limit because we can only generate XLS output. Oracle documents confirm that generating XLSX output is not natively possible in 12.1.3, and the overflow functionality to a new worksheet doesn’t work either. How can we overcome this critical limitation and achieve truly unlimited EBS reporting?

This is a widespread pain point, as Oracle confirms that generating XLSX output is generally not supported in EBS 12.1.3, resulting in the 65,536 row limit characteristic of the XLS format. Blitz Report is designed precisely to address these limitations by generating output files directly in XLSX or CSV formats, completely bypassing the inherent constraints of BI Publisher.

If we have millions of records, how does Blitz Report handle the sheer volume without encountering the same row limits?

Blitz Report can generate output files of virtually unlimited size and row numbers. Specifically, in the XLSX format, if the data exceeds the standard worksheet capacity, it features automatic overflow to additional worksheets at every 1,048,575 rows, ensuring no data is lost.

That sounds like a direct solution. Can we easily convert our existing BI Publisher report logic into Blitz Reports?

Yes, Blitz Report provides functionality to easily convert and quickly modify existing Oracle BI Publisher based reports. This approach significantly reduces development time by eliminating the need for laborious XML template redesign.

Furthermore, while PDF generation typically uses OPP, Blitz Report also supports generating PDF output using a custom postprocessing option, offering greater flexibility in report delivery.
