When entering segment values (Segments 1-20) into the `br_balance` function, how strictly must I adhere to Oracle’s internal configuration?

You must format the value exactly as configured in Oracle. This ensures the lookup is successful.

If my Oracle system stores account ’10’ as a four-character segment field, what must I enter into the parameter field?

If Oracle stores ’10’ with leading zeros as four characters, you must enter ‘0010’. Failure to include all leading zeros will result in data retrieval errors.

If I leave the segment parameter blank, what does the function assume?

Leaving the segment parameter blank or entering ‘%’ will include all possible values for that segment.
