Automated Mass Migration: Bulk Converting 1000+ Discoverer Worksheets to Blitz Report SQL

Avatar photoCustomer September 23, 2025 at 9:11 am

We face an enormous challenge in our Oracle Discoverer replacement project: translating over a thousand legacy Discoverer workbooks, many containing complex query logic, into a supported platform . Manually rebuilding these reports is not feasible within our current resource constraints. We require an industrial-strength solution with an automated process or API capable of bulk extracting the underlying SQL from our End User Layers (EULs) and importing them directly into a production-ready EBS reporting solution efficiently.

This specific high-volume migration challenge is directly addressed by the Blitz Report Discoverer report import feature . Our solution uses an API to extract and migrate worksheet SQLs, and parameters, ensuring integrity during bulk conversion .

The process is incredibly fast: mass importing 1,000 reports typically takes only about 10 minutes using the dedicated Blitz Report API script run from a SQL development tool .

Before migration, we need robust tooling to analyze exactly what we have. Does Blitz Report offer detailed analysis of our existing EUL setup and usage?

Yes, prior to bulk importing, you should run the available Blitz Reports like ‘DIS Worksheet Execution History’ and ‘DIS Folders, Business Areas, Items and LOVs’ to identify usage frequency and the exact components within your EULs .

This ensures you prioritize active reports and confidently retire unused assets, making your EBS reporting environment leaner and more efficient post-migration .
