Audit Trail for Standard Cost Changes and Item Attributes

We recently performed a large standard cost update. We need a report that shows items with recent cost changes, comparing the new standard cost against the prior and current frozen costs, along with related item controls.

Run the CAC New Standard Item Costs report. This report shows items with recent cost changes, based on a required ‘Cost Update Date From’ and ‘Cost Update Date To’ date range.

We are specifically concerned with ensuring that items that require a Bill of Materials (BOM) or Routing actually have them defined before the cost was frozen. Does the report show this?

Yes, the report includes columns indicating whether BOMs, Routings, or (inventory organization) Sourcing Rules exist for the item. This helps validate the necessary controls are in place for accurate cost calculation.

If an item cost was directly entered into the Frozen Cost Type without running a formal cost update, will those related submission columns be empty?

That is correct. If an item cost was directly entered into the Frozen Cost Type (allowed only if there are no onhand or intransit quantities), the ‘Cost Update Request Id’, ‘Cost Update Description’, ‘Cost Update Status’, and related cost update submission columns will be blank or empty.
