A simpler way to work with Automatic Workload Repository (AWR)

Avatar photoCustomer January 16, 2020 at 6:00 pm

Generating and analyzing Automatic Workload Repository (AWR) reports for EBS performance tuning is essential but time-consuming. We are looking for a simpler, more integrated way to work with AWR data directly within the EBS environment.

Since migrating to Oracle 19c, our database uses container databases (CDBs) and pluggable databases (PDBs). Has the way AWR data is stored changed, and do the Blitz AWR reports support this multi-tenant architecture?

Yes, Oracle did change how AWR data is stored and accessed with the introduction of container databases (CDBs). We have made the necessary adjustments, and the updated DBA AWR Blitz Reports now work with pluggable databases to solve performance issues efficiently in your multitenant databases.

If a DBA needs to quickly analyze the execution plan history for a specific SQL ID identified in the AWR, can Blitz Report assist directly?

    • Support January 22, 2020 at 8:36 am

Yes, Blitz Report integrates with other diagnostic reports, such as the Concurrent Request Monitoring tool, which includes an option to output the active SQL text. This SQL ID can then be rapidly analyzed by other specialized Blitz Reports, such as the DBA AWR SQL Execution Plan History report.

How does this approach simplify the DBA’s process compared to manually running scripts in the database?

By housing these queries within Blitz Report, the DBA gains a centralized, organized toolkit accessible from the familiar EBS Forms interface. It removes the fragmentation of storing queries in various text documents and streamlines execution, which is crucial for maximizing EBS performance.

We need to extract configuration data from FND tables as part of pre-upgrade steps. Are FND reports included in this toolkit?

    • Support January 27, 2020 at 7:15 pm

Yes, the Database Health and Tuning reports within the Blitz Report Toolkit incorporate FND reports, providing necessary foundational data extracts alongside the AWR metrics.
