1. Central deployment
Larger companies roll out Excel add-ins centrally rather than asking every user to install files and enter server addresses. With Blitz Report 3.3.7, IT departments deploy both the Blitz Report Excel add-in and its Oracle EBS environments to all users, and can lock the environment setup so that users cannot change it. The installation guide has the commands, the template download and the registry values.
2. Installing the add-in
The add-in installer runs silently in each user’s context, from a logon script, Intune or Configuration Manager, and returns an exit code your deployment tool can check. It can wait for the user to close Excel instead of failing, and it removes the add-in again with a single switch.
3. Deploying the environments
The Blitz Report administrative template (ADMX) adds two policies to Group Policy and Intune: Environments, a list of environment names and EBS Login URLs, and Lock environment setup. Only the Login URL is needed: at the first login through the browser, the add-in fetches the connection details from the EBS server, so no passwords or client secrets are distributed. Environments users have already set up are matched on their Login URL and kept.
4. Locking the environment setup
With the lock enabled, users see the environments read-only and only choose their user name and language. Environments outside the policy are removed, so users connect only to the EBS instances IT has approved. Every call to EBS still runs with the user’s own EBS login and security.
