Simulating COGS with Different Item Costs for Journal Corrections

Avatar photoCustomer April 12, 2024 at 3:49 am

Due to incorrect item costs, we need to make manual journal corrections to our Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) entries. Which Blitz Report allows us to compare the ‘as transacted’ COGS cost against a ‘what if’ cost from a simulation cost type?

The CAC Recost Cost of Goods Sold report compares the ‘as transacted’ COGS transactions with the hypothetical costs from a specified Recost Cost Type. This comparison helps identify the necessary manual journal entry corrections.

What are the key mandatory parameters for running this simulation?

You must enter the mandatory parameters: ‘Transaction Date From’, ‘Transaction Date To’, the list of ‘COGS Transaction Types’ (defaulted values include COGS Recognition, Sales Order Issue, RMA Receipt, and RMA Return), the ‘Recost Cost Type’, and the ‘Minimum Value Difference’.

If we define user-defined transactions like Account Issues/Receipts as COGS, can I include them in this report?

Yes, you can report additional user-defined material transactions by adding them to the ‘COGS Transaction Types’ parameter, along with the defaulted transaction types.
