Nufarm is a global agricultural chemical company headquartered in Melbourne, Australia, which manufactures and markets their products in more than 100 countries around the world. For more than 100 years they have been finding more effective ways to fight disease, weeds and pests to protect and improve crop yields. Today, Nufarm is one of the world’s leading developers and manufacturers of crop protection solutions and seed technologies.
The Challenge
Nufarm uses Oracle E-Business Suite for their global operations and faced challenges during the rollout of the EBS solution across 16 European entities. Ajay Thaker, who has been working on Oracle EBS implementations and upgrades for over 25 years, was leading the implementation as Finance Business Process owner. Their goal was to ensure a smooth transition to EBS for users accustomed to older technologies, while meeting statutory and local requirements. As Ajay explained, however, significant hurdles arose during the implementation. Oracle’s standard functionality did not meet the users’ requirements for month-end close and transactional reporting. The standard reports’ data formatting in Excel was not straightforward, lacked transactional detail, and caused Finance teams to struggle with reconciliations. Nufarm tried third-party tools to help them extract finance data to meet local legal requirements, but they were not user-friendly, lacked performance and proved expensive.
Why Blitz Report?
To resolve the users’ reporting challenges, Ajay was looking for a better solution and discovered Blitz Report at the Oracle OpenWorld event in London. He was immediately excited about Blitz Report, as the user interface looked like Oracle standard, the reports showed impressive performance, and he understood that it would give their users what they want, when they want, as accurately as they need.

The Results
In an internal survey, the Nufarm users voted that the implementation of Blitz Report was the best improvement that happened for them in 2021. Users were immediately familiar with the Oracle look and feel of Blitz Report, which minimized training needs. Blitz Report enabled Nufarm to reduce their month-end close process from several weeks to just three days, giving their users immediate access to detailed GL, sub-ledger data for their reconciliation processes. An additional unexpected result was that Blitz Report significantly reduced report development time from about two weeks to a mere two days.
Nufarm continues rolling out their Oracle EBS solution to further regions, and Blitz Report proved to be an indispensable tool on this journey.
