INV Inventory Item Upload allows creation of Inventory Items:
- from an item template (Copy From Template)
- from an existing item in the same Organization (Copy From Item)
- from the same item in the Master Organization (a row for the child organization, or Assign To Organizations on the master organization row)
- manually enter the Item details.
It allows update of existing Inventory Items. To update existing inventory items, either download them first, using the parameters to select the items to be updated, or set Create Empty File to Yes and paste the item details into the empty upload Excel.
Use the pre-defined templates to restrict the Item Attributes to be displayed and updated in the upload, or define a custom template containing only the Item Attributes of interest.
INV Inventory Item Upload allows the user:
- creating an item in a child organization by assigning it from the master organization (in this case the item must have already been created in the master organization, or be created in an earlier row of the same upload)
- creating the item from a template
- creating the item by copying an existing item
When creating new items:
- the first entry must be the creation in the master organization
- the following rows create the item in each of the child organizations in which the item should be available. Alternatively, list the child organization codes, separated by semicolons, in the Assign To Organizations column of the master organization row
For the child organizations, you can select the Copy From Template option as in the above screenshot, or leave Copy From Template and Copy From Item empty to assign the item from the Master Organization, as for organization M1 in the below screenshot.
In both cases, any organization level attributes that need to be changed can be specified in the Excel prior to upload (e.g. item category). Master controlled attributes always come from the master organization item.
The INV Inventory Item Upload handles:
- item creation
- organization assignment
- category assignments (including multiple category set assignments)
- assignment to several organizations from one row: list the organization codes in Assign To Organizations, separated by semicolons
- removal of a category assignment: Delete Category = Yes on a downloaded row
- manufacturer part numbers: create, update, and delete with Delete Mfg Part = Yes (template Manufacturer Part Numbers)
- item revisions with their flexfield (template Item Revisions)
- automatic item numbering (template Automatic Item Numbering): leave Item blank and give the rows of one item the same Upload Item Identifier; the number comes from the item catalog’s sequence or your own numbering logic
